Local Area Multicultural Partnership (LAMP) - Language Link Program

This important initiative is the first of its kind in the state and is one of the most important initiatives to come out of LAMP. Language link is one component of the Language Services Program.

The program is aimed at increasing access to Council services for customers who require immediate assistance in their native language.

The program utilises the multi-lingual skills of Council staff, through an internal intranet system that provides staff contact details, or other professional interpreting services.

Language Link posters are displayed at all Council libraries and customer services areas.

All staff have been provided with language cards and handbooks to assist them in communicating with customers who have difficulty communicating in English.
